England's soccer heroes could be World Cup Top Dogs if a set of personal good luck gifts delivered to the team's hotel do the trick.

Each member of the 23 strong squad, and coach Sven Goran Ericksson, have been presented with a hand painted British Bulldog figurine, complete with a flag of St George and each player's name and shirt number.

Staff at Wade Ceramics, one of the Potteries' oldest factories, came up with the idea of good luck mascots to celebrate the World Cup Campaign.

Managing Director Paul Farmer, said, "A deputation of workers came forward and asked us to celebrate the World Cup with their skill and craftsmanship. We are delighted the squad of bulldogs will be with the England team in time for Saturday's game, wishing them the very best of luck for the World Cup 2006 and reminding the players of the Great British Bulldog spirit."
