Loyal workers at a leading ceramics business joined friends
and colleagues to celebrate more than 860 years of faithful
service. The 25 employees of Burslem-based Wade Ceramics were
honoured at a special dinner arranged by the company.
The devoted and committed team work in a variety of departments
from mould making, fettling, decorating and managing to tool
making and glazing.
Managing director, Paul Farmer, and chief executive, Edward
Duke, were both on hand to join in the celebrations and present
a ceramic plaque and certificate to every long serving colleague.
With 47 years under his belt as a toolmaker, David Shemilt,
held the title of longest serving employee.
He said: "I joined Wade when I left school in 1957 when
the Potteries were very different and I was keen to learn a
trade that would last me for life.
"I've really enjoyed my time at Wade and just can't believe
the years have passed so quickly."
Mr Farmer said: "We have an extremely skilled and dedicated
team, many of whom have spent many years with us - with just
nine years at the firm I'm very much the new boy on the block.
"All joking aside, we'd like to thank all our guests for
their hard work and service over the years and for coming along
and making the long service celebration such a success."
