Bags
of fun: The Sydney Moneybox is a new addition to the range WADE
Ceramics is adding two commemorative pieces to the Tetley collectables
range to celebrate 50 years since the tea bag was introduced
to Britain.
The Burslem-based collectables manufacturer has been creating
collectables based on the Tetley Tea Folk characters since 1988.
The latest additions to the collection are a Sydney money box
and a teapot wall clock.
Standing seven inches tall the Sydney moneybox has the character
holding a commemorative tea bag with 'Celebrating 50 years of
the tea bag' printed in gold, and is priced at £34.99.
The white teapot wall clock has black numerals and gold print.
It is seven inches tall and nine and a half inches wide, and
costs £29.99.
An initial run of 500 is planned for each.
Tetley marketing manager Andrew Dobson said: "We' re delighted
to celebrate this occasion as just one of a long line of firsts
from Tetley. Not only were we the first tea manufacturer to
introduce the tea bag to Britain but we were also behind the
launch of both round and drawstring varieties.
"The collectables designed and produced are a fun yet long-lasting
way of marking this special year."
