Pottery firm Wade is hoping to set tails wagging with its
latest ceramic fashion range. The Burslem-based outfit has unveiled
a new range of dog bowls in collaboration with English design
house Burberry.
The two new designs, in red and brown "carpet check"
have been unveiled to cater for the increasing popularity of
pet accessories.
Now, classy canines can eat from a choice of two bowl sizes
to make a real dogs dinner out of mealtimes.
Wade already make a dog bowl in traditional Burberry check
and the firm's business manager, Jenny Wright, said the bowls
had been very popular in America.
She said: "I think the main market for these dog bowls
is the US. They are very popular at the moment so Burberry are
looking to expand on that range.
"We have provided the samples, and we are now waiting
to see the results of Burberry research, before we can talk
about production figures."
The news comes after The Sentinel reported how design guru
Sir Terence Conran, the founder of the Habitat empire, warned
pottery companies they must place designers at the heart of
their businesses if they are to survive.
Portmeirion has employed London-based designer Ella Doran to
work on new design ranges, while Wedgwood uses leading designers
such as Jasper Conran.
The dog bowls will be sold in Burberry outlets across the UK and
America, and are expected to have a £55 price tag.
