Wade Ceramics says there is nothing rash in it launching a
new pig for banking giant NatWest.
The Burslem firm made a family of piggy banks for NatWest to
encourage youngsters to save in the 1980s.
As their savings grew, they were able to add Woody, Annabel,
Maxwell, Lady Hilary and Sir Nathaniel to their collection.
Production ceased eight years ago but the pigs have grown in
popularity.
Sharon Harris, Wades business manager for collectables,
said a complete set can be worth around £200.
Thats not bad for some thing NatWest used
to give away free, said Mrs Harris.
A total of 5,000 of the new, 8ins hand-painted pigs are being
made. Hes has been named Wesley,
following a competition among the banks staff.
NatWest says the original family are the most popular promotional
products ever produced by a bank.
Anyone who opens at NatWests childrens bond gets
one.
The bond, which requires a minimum £1,000 investment,
offers 7.25 per cent annually over five years.
The bonds are for seven to 16 year olds.
