Moneyboxes
All Delivery Vans are similar to the original 1990 Tetley TeaVans but are different in size and details due to the retooling of molds and small changes made throughout the mold use. The mold was slightly altered for different uses. The Festive Van Moneybox was issued in 1997 at the Christmas Extravaganza. License plate on the Festive Van reads "Christmas." Issue price was £25.
All Plain Van Moneyboxes were sold through the
Wade Factory shop. The cobalt blue van with the oval window is the
1990 Tetley Tea van without any decals. The other vans were the same
mold and color as the 1996 Jim Beam vans but did not have any of the
decals applied.
In 1997, Keenan Antiques put clear stickers on 8 blue and 8 cream vans. These advertising vans were given to collectors that spent a certain dollar amount at their booth at the Oconomowoc Wade Fair.
For the 1998 Alton Towers show, Wade had a raffle
for one-of-a-kind moneyboxes! 29 moneyboxes were produced in the
same colorway. The difference in the pieces are their license
plates. The license plates were "Wade 1", "Wade
2" etc. This made 29 one-of-a-kinds.
In 2003, Wade issued a new mold moneybox
with an embossed Wade logo. The vans were sold through the
Wade Collectors Club and were also part of the Wade Retail
line. The license plate was 255255 which is the phone number
for the Wade Collectors Club. Issue price was £10.50.
In 2006, Wade released two all new
historic delivery vans into the retail line. The license
plate on the brown/black van was 255-255 which is the
phone number for the Wade Collectors Club. For some reason,
the grey has a license plate number of 225-255. Was that
a modelling error? USA Retail price was $15.45 each.
